Catherine Kelly is Dublin born and lives in Rathmines. She studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and was conferred with an Honours Degree in Fine Art Painting and History of Art in 1995 and obtained MA in Painting and Print in 1999. She is a member of the Black Church Print Studio, Temple Bar and the Visual Artists Ireland. Catherine has exhibited consistently in Ireland since 1993. She was selected for the RHA Annual Exhibition in 1993 and 2002, 2003, 2006,An t-Oireachtas in 1996 and 2002. Joint winner of the Open Category in Iontas 1994. In 1995 she won the KPMG Stokes Kennedy Crowley purchase prize at the NCAD Degree Show in the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin. She was selected for EV+A in 2001 and was involved in the “Art:pack” project at the RHA Gallagher Gallery in 2002 and has participated in several other shows including the NCAD Master in Fine Art Exhibition at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin. In 2003 she had a Solo show in the United Arts Club, and has exhibited in group shows in Hangzhou (China), The Lavit Gallery Cork, An Grianan Theatre Letterkenny, the Dunamaise Art Centre Portlaoise, Aras an Chontae, Co. Offaly, and the Crescent Arts Centre Belfast. Catherine visited New York on an Art Flight in 1995 and Japan on an Arts Council Travel Bursary in 1996. In 1997 she was awarded a place on the Sculptors’ Society of Ireland Second Random Access Video Training Symposium.
